Blocked Milk Ducts
Our Manotick Physiotherapists treat blocked milk ducts that can occur with breastfeeding.
What is a blocked milk duct?
A blocked duct presents as a painful, swollen, firm mass in the breast. It may result in the baby being fussy while nursing on that side because the milk flow is slower.
Our physiotherapist will provide you with education on techniques to unblock the duct, including feeding positions, heat, massage, and nipple care. Ultrasound can also be very effective in treating a blocked duct and it can also prevent recurring blockages.
